St. Nicholas had a deep devotion to Jesus. This devotion made him a compassionate leader in the Church who fearlessly proclaimed the Gospel of Christ. In the mystery of Advent, he continues to point to Christ. His feast day on December 6 has long been a beautiful occasion for generosity to the unfortunate and the vulnerable, and to prepare children for the real meaning of Christmas.
